Should you buy in an HOA? I suggest familiarizing yourself with the area and see if there are any community meeting minutes about any future bans or changes in regulations on STRs. All my properties I manage are in an HOA, and personally, I love it! Our properties are part of a condo complex with a pool and jacuzzi that is cleaned and maintained by our HOA. This rare amenity in our community helps us book like crazy in the summer season. Our outside landscaping, trash pickup, parking lot, and snow plowing is also maintained by our HOA. Again, I would ensure that your HOA is on board with supporting STRs. If you can even sit on the HOA board so you know there is always an advocate for STRs, that’s even better!
